Run Rabbit Run!

It was a cold, cloudy, quiet day except for the lonesome cry of the beagles.
The air was crisp as our platoon of rabbit hunters headed for a strip of briars surrounded on either side by brown stalks of yellow corn. Before you could say "Jack Rabbit", the dogs were out on the first run of the day.
The Party dressed in orange vests and hats lined up anticipating the rabbit's return. One of the hunters had moved up to a corner of a large field of brush. Not ten minutes later, he squeezed the trigger and the echoings of, "Dead Rabbit!" were heard. The rabbit was displayed to all of the dogs and the hunt proceeded.
What seemed like five minutes later, the song of the beagles had begun again. The chase was on! The hunters scanned the brush like falcons searching for prey. Suddenly, a shot rang out, then three more, now four. At last, a final shot sounded and the rabbit wouldn't live to tell the tale.
Finally, the dogs jumped another and stayed on em' like a duck on a junebug. That rabbit was wily. First he went this way, then that way. Once, he even ran up a row of corn, five shots fired, and he still got away.
The sun began to set, dogs were caught, and a day of rabbit hunting ended. But...don't think it wasn't fun, because

it isn't how many rabbits you kill that makes the hunt fun...its the EXPERIENCE!
