It was mid-morning and windy when some long-eared, loud-mouthed beagles struck. The hounds were on their way.

Orange dots bobbed up and down the horizon as the beagles started on their first cottontail trail of the day. The seasoned hunters, ready as they could be, couldn't control the bunny and where it ran. And that's how it happned. The rabbit ran through the marshy pond, and the dogs were unable to work it out.

With a rabbit lost, the dogs learned their lesson for the day and tried at another. They were hot on the trail of the rascally rabbit when a ready hunter fired. As time went on, the dogs caught and retrieved the not so lucky rabbit to a happy hunter.

After many minutes of searching out another rabbit, the dogs found one. The hunters decided if it were brought around for the kill, it would be the last for the day due to the sun sinking ahead. Sure enough, the rabbit circled back and since the rabbit was hit, once again the dogs caught it and was taken for the sup.

With joyful hearts, the hunters returned with meat for the crockpot.
